Working towards your dreams is a gradual process, moving there action by action. It is also good to prepare your mind through methods like saying your goal several times a day and spending time with people who have already achieved your dream.
One of my husband’s dreams is to own a sailing yacht. His grandfather owned yachts so Ed has sailed since being a baby and to him it is a normal part of life.
He is taking several actions towards his goal. Firstly, he is introducing me to sailing, so we can sail around the world together! Secondly he is making sure we charter yachts regularly so he can retain his skill, we can try out different makes and models and sailing is integrated into our family life.
However, today is the day when he can get fully immersed in sailing; at the Southampton boat show. It is the biggest boat show in the UK and this is the 4th year in a row we’ve visited. You can buy anything boat related, but the key thing for us is looking around the yachts.
During our week sailing in the summer we developed a list of desired features in our yacht and have used it to narrow down the list of models we may think of purchasing. It has knocked out several boats we had considered in the past. Now the next step is getting the money to purchase one.
So my husband has had an enjoyable day, spending time with sail boats and has moved closer to his dream. What are you doing to reach your dreams?

That I think is really a great idea, I really am glad that you really am supporting what your husband likes to do. I do not think that letting go of this would make him that happy. In terms of the money, I think that you really need to weigh things out. For me I would really think that first things first before getting that yacht. Good luck in this dream of yours. Hope you can build up the money for you family to enjoy.

We almost found a compromise last year, a privately owned yacht that met my husband’s requirements and was available to charter. If we could have agreed terms and conditions it would have meant a beautiful yacht we could charter with no large initial outlay or ongoing costs. My husband is very realistic about this dream; the priority is to buy our family home and then he can start saving for a yacht.
