The last long haul flight I went on was for my honeymoon to Canada two years ago, but that was only a seven hour flight compared to twelve hours this time.So do you have any tips for a 12 hour flight in economy? And what would you recommend seeing or doing in Japan?
Here are is what I do when I go on a long flight.
1. Comfy socks.
2. PJ Pants and Loose T-Shirt (to change when I am on board the plane.
3. A really good book.
4. I dont know if you are allowed to bring moisturiser but if you can’t bring one on board ask if you can get one of those complimentary ones that you can get on board. My skin can get really dry.
5. Load your ipod or mp3 player with songs.
6. One of those eye covers so that you can block the light in the cabin and sleep.
I usually have more than these because I am afraid to fly so I need something to keep me occupied but I hope these help. I have never been to Japan before but my best friend is going there too in April.
Feli,
Thanks for the tips. I think I am given socks and eye cover on the plane, but I will check. I have got several books out to take so I just need to choose the one for the plane, plus I’ve got a notebook to write blog posts! I have bought a small bottle for my moisturiser and some Rescue Remedy Night that will hopefully help me sleep. The plane is meant to have on demand video and audio, but I’m still thinking of putting an audio book or two on my mp3 player.
You are on your hike near Mt. Fuji today and I thought I would check out your blog. I think you proved the best way to get over jet lag is to not have a nap when you arrive and then have a big night out with hundred’s of people! I don’t know how you did it, as I get jet lag every time I fly back to Japan from the UK.
Kirsten,
That was a painful hike, but had some great views of Mt Fuji. Yes we got over our jet lag on the way out very well, hopefully we will be as successful on our return to the UK.
